Matthew Tidman, age 36, was attacked by an inmate with a metal object in the gymnasium at MCI-Shirley in Shirley on the afternoon of Wednesday, Aug. 31, as previously reported by Daily Voice.

After being hospitalized for nearly two months, his brother Nick told CBS that Tidman left Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital on last Friday.

"He has this will and drive within him and he knows how to get things done, push himself to the limit and he's currently doing it," Nick told the outlet on October 14.

Roy Booth, the inmate behind the attack, has since been charged with the attack on Tidman. He is currently serving a life sentence for murder out of Virginia and was transferred to Massachusetts in March 2021, as previously reported by Daily Voice
